One of my life hero’s is Nikola Tesla for his many world changing inventions, hair brained schemes and doomsday devices, seriously read into this guy he is awesome.
So when we were asked to electrify a fork I quickly said yes, the details could be sorted out later; anything to do with electricity and bikes I am game for. The request was to use this otherwise perfect Whisky No 7 disc fork and make it work with the SONdelux SL hub which conducts the electrical output from the hub through the dropouts up to a headlight. After a lot of notebook scratches and few phone calls to Peter White (apparently no one has done this before with a carbon fork) we had a plan. We ended up soldering a lead onto the drive side dropout and installed the SON insulator pad and conductive insert; this allows both conductors to be run together up through the fork blade and out the same exit port. After all my detailed hackery, Grahamrod touched up the paint as if nothing happened and this was just your average fork rolling down the road.
You can hook this to a light, t shirt cannon, or your own Tesla Coil likes these guys
